The Metropolitan Club · Selected Venues

Live music at The Metropolitan Club, New York.

Solo violin, jazz piano, and DJ + live violin at the McKim, Mead & White clubhouse at 60th and Fifth Avenue — for corporate galas, private dinners, receptions, weddings, and member events.

The room, and what it asks of the music.

The Met Club's principal event spaces — the Great Hall with its ceiling murals, the West Lounge, the Marble Corridor, the private dining rooms — read differently than any hotel ballroom in the city. The architecture is doing enough of the work that music has to complement, not compete with, the room. Solo violin during arrivals and cocktails, jazz piano through seated dinner, and a DJ + live violin format for after-dinner dancing scales cleanly across a Met Club evening without ever asking guests to shout over the set.

Formats that fit the Met Club calendar.

Cocktail arrivals — solo violin, unamplified or lightly amplified. The Marble Corridor and West Lounge acoustics carry an acoustic violin without any PA reinforcement for most receptions under 120 guests.

Seated dinner — jazz piano. Standards and contemporary reworks, low volume, running under conversation. Julie brings her own keyboard rig; the Club's staff does not need to arrange piano access.

After-dinner dancing — the two-performer DJ + live violin format. Full sound and modest lighting scaled to the room, with pre-event AV coordination through the Club's event captain.

Featured moments — for milestone toasts or awards, an original piece composed to a client's video content and performed live to the screen. See corporate events for the immersive synced format.

What the Met Club's event team cares about.

Everything runs on the Club's Advanced Events Office schedule, and everything works. Music vendors who understand that show up on the coordinator's timeline, load in through the correct service entrance, coordinate directly with the Club's captain, and don't require a walkthrough on the day. Julie is set up for that: certificate of insurance issued in advance with the Club named as additional insured, W-9 on file, contracts through Julie Schatz Music LLC, and a technical rider that the AV lead reviews before the event.
