How the night usually runs
Most company holiday parties have three parts, and each one needs something different from the music.
- Arrivals: solo violin. People are coming in from the office, finding a drink and saying hello. Solo violin gives the room a welcome without getting in the way of conversation.
- Dinner: jazz piano. Standards and soul at a level people can talk over. If there are remarks, a toast or a short awards segment, Julie plays people on and off and stays quiet while they speak.
- Dancing: DJ and live violin. Once dinner is cleared the DJ takes over and the violin is played live over the set. Sound and lighting come with it.
You can book all three or only the part you need. When one musician carries the whole evening there is one contract, one load-in and one person for your planner to coordinate with, and the music moves from one part of the night to the next without a gap.
Formats
- Solo violin. One musician, a small footprint, and the easiest fit for arrivals and cocktail hour.
- Jazz piano. Standards, soul and modern covers at conversation level for dinner.
- Violin and piano duo. Julie switching between the two, or the two-musician Soul Shades duo for a fuller sound.
- DJ and live violin. A full DJ set with violin played live over it, for when the room is ready to dance.

December is a short month with a lot of parties in it. Reach out as soon as you have a date, even if the venue and headcount are not final. Julie replies to every inquiry within 24 hours.
Working with your procurement team
The paperwork is straightforward:
- W-9 available on request.
- Certificate of insurance available on request, with the venue named if the venue requires it.
- Invoicing. The engagement is invoiced to the company.
- House AV. She is comfortable plugging into a venue's in-house sound and working from a run of show with your production team.

What to send with your inquiry
The more Julie knows, the faster she can come back with a real number. Can one musician cover the whole party?
Yes. Julie plays solo violin for arrivals, jazz piano through dinner, and then performs live violin over a DJ set for dancing. That means one contract and one point of contact for the whole night. You can also book a single part of the evening.
How early should we book a December date?

Can you provide a W-9 and a certificate of insurance?
Yes. Both are available on request, and the certificate of insurance can name the venue when the venue requires it. The engagement is invoiced to the company.
Do you bring your own sound system?
Yes. A sound system scaled to the room is included, and the DJ and live violin format includes sound and lighting. At venues with in-house AV, Julie can plug into the house system and work with your production team.
Can we request specific songs?
Yes. Tell Julie the songs you want when you inquire, including any holiday songs, and she will confirm what fits the set. Requests from the 255-song repertoire are part of every booking.
